Should I repair it or replace it?

That’s the biggest – and most important – question you’ll ever ask regarding your heating and cooling systems. And there are so many questions within the question:

  • When is equipment considered too old?
  • Will a newer system get you the energy efficiency you’re looking for to justify the cost?
  • If you repair or upgrade your system, are you just throwing good money at old, out-dated equipment?

We’d be happy to come to your home and personally assess your current situation and make thoughtful, in writing, easy to understand recommendations.

Here are a few things to consider when deciding whether to repair or replace:
  • Your furnace, air conditioner unit or heat pump is more than 15 years old.
  • Consider replacing it with a unit that has earned the “Energy Star Label. Installed correctly, these high-efficiency units can save up to 50% on heating and cooling costs.
  • Your equipment needs frequent repairs and your energy bills are going up.
  • Your cooling or heating equipment is not cooling or heating as quickly and efficiently as it once did.
  • Some rooms in your home are too hot or too cold.
  • No one is home for long periods of time and you do not have a programmable thermostat.
  • Your home has humidity problems.
  • Poor equipment operation, inadequate equipment, and leaky ductwork can cause the air to be too dry in the winter or too humid in the summer.
  • Your heating and cooling system is noisy.
  • You could have an undersized duct system, or other problems with the furnace or air conditioner. New units have much lower sound ratings and highly efficient motorsthat allow for quieter operation.
