Frequently Asked Questions:

How do I find the main water shut-off in my home?

The main water shut-off valve is typically located near the water meter, in a basement, utility room, or crawl space. Knowing this can help prevent water damage in emergencies, so it's best to find out where yours is when you move to a new home as soon as possible.

How much does a water heater replacement cost?

The cost varies based on tank vs. tankless models, size, and installation complexity. Contact us for an estimate.

Why is my water pressure too low or too high?

Mineral buildup, leaks, or faulty pressure regulators can cause low water pressure. High pressure may stem from issues with the municipal supply or a faulty pressure-reducing valve.

Should I hire a professional to replace plumbing fixtures?

Yes! A licensed plumber makes sure that everything is installed correctly without the risk of leaks to avoid costly future damage.

How often should I flush my water heater?

Tank water heaters should be flushed at least once a year to remove sediment buildup and extend the life of your unit.

How do I prevent frozen pipes in winter?

If you're hoping to prevent frozen pipes during our cold Indiana winters, insulate any exposed pipes, seal gaps in walls, keep cabinet doors open for warm airflow, and let faucets drip during extreme cold.

"My experience was excellent. The furnace runs very quietly and before when it would come on and I was sleeping it came on so loud it would wake me up. I'm so pleased with Hartman Brothers. My AC stopped working I thought it had something to do with my thermostat but Hartman's checked things out and found out someone turned the power off in the garage."

"I signed up for a service plan, as I’m not much of a handyman myself. They had a variety of payment options with the service plan, so I was able to start monthly payments, which works best for me. Our service person was polite, and he explained everything in terms I had no problems understanding. I had an additional issue with an attic duct being chewed through. He got up there and got pictures right away so they could put together an estimate. Same visit, no hassle. And because of the service plan, there was no charge for the system check. I just let him in, showed him around, and he worked his magic. No regrets here. There’s a very good chance I’ll just keep up this service plan for the entire time I own my home."

"I've had Hartman's install new Bryant H/Vac systems in 2 houses now and I've been pleased with the outcome at both houses. They are local, on time and reasonably priced. I've had a couple minor problems and Hartman Bros treated me fairly and took care of the issues. You don't buy 2 complete H/Vac systems from someone you don't trust or has treated you unfairly."
