"On Saturday, my water heater spewed lots of water in the utility portion of my garage. Unfortunately, my furnace was soaked. After my call to Hartman Bros., Darian arrived within the hour and dried out the furnace and re-started it. Under normal conditions, you shouldn't have to add refrigerant to your HVAC system. The refrigerant doesn't get consumed – it travels in a loop through the system, absorbing heat at the indoor evaporator coil, and releasing it at the condenser coil into the outdoor air. When there's an HVAC leak, you may be able to detect it by these telltale signs:
