They could have slapped a generic part on, but it would have only been a short-term fix. Instead of taking the easy way out, they are getting the part made for my unit so it will stay fixed, and they are coming back to finish the job as soon as they have the part. Most attics are a maze of wires, pipes and cables, as well as a no-man's land of hazards, from high heat to insects to potentially harmful materials such as insulation or asbestos.
