Why Should You Learn Your Home's Energy Rating? Are you interested in determining your home's energy efficiency? If so, you should consider learning about the home energy rating system (HERS) index and how your home scores. This professional analysis of a home's energy efficiency is used to qualify it for the Energy Star label, energy-efficient mortgage (EEM), and certain tax incentives and rebates. After your home qualifies for these benefits, you'll have an easier time selling it. However, if you don't want to sell, a low HERS index means you'll be saving on energy, with probable comfort benefits too.

The Energy Star Most Efficient Label Points to High-Efficiency HVAC OptionsWant to save money on your utility bill and keep your home comfortable all year? The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency manages the Energy Star program to guide consumers in the purchase of a variety of energy-using electronics and appliances, including residential heating and cooling systems. In the last year or so, the EPA realized that so many products were qualifying for the Energy Star that it had lost its edge when it comes to singling out the best of the best. That's why the federal agency developed the Energy Star Most Efficient program. When you purchase a central A/C, heat pump or furnace that's marked as Most Efficient, you know you have a product that will begin saving you immediately on energy bills, and keep saving throughout its service life.

"I signed up for a service plan, as I’m not much of a handyman myself. They had a variety of payment options with the service plan, so I was able to start monthly payments, which works best for me. Our service person was polite, and he explained everything in terms I had no problems understanding. I had an additional issue with an attic duct being chewed through. He got up there and got pictures right away so they could put together an estimate. Same visit, no hassle. And because of the service plan, there was no charge for the system check. I just let him in, showed him around, and he worked his magic. No regrets here. There’s a very good chance I’ll just keep up this service plan for the entire time I own my home."

"Came home from work to find that my furnace wasn't working. Since the temperatures were extremely mild for November, I just left a message for them to call me the next day. Received a call by 7:25 am and told that the repair man would be there in approximately a half hour. He was at my house by 8:30 and he had it back running within 45 minutes. He went the extra step and made sure that there was no other possible issues before he left. I'd recommend Hartman Brothers Heating to anyone, they are courteous, reliable, knowledgeable and won't gouge you like some companies."
